STS 135 lands
July 27, 2011 - Space Shuttle Atlantis landed on Runway 15 at the Kennedy Space Center's
Shuttle Landing Facility concluding its 12 days mission to the international Space Station.
The landing of STS 135 also marked the end of NASA's Space Shuttle program after 30 years.
Atlantis landed in the early morning twilight, challenging the photographers' skills.
I had the chance to view the landing from the midfield viewing site. After the landing, there was
a photo opportunity during the tow-back of the shuttle at the ramp from the runway. Finally,
Atlantis served as the backdrop to an KSC employee's party to celebrate the Space Shuttle program.
Atlantis will be on display at the KSC Visitor Center from 2013 onwards, and certainly
worth a visit!
