Sojus launches TET-1
22. Juli 2012 - TET-1 is a small satellite of DLR's "On Orbit Verification" program.
The satellite is providing a platform for technology experiments in space. TET launched
together with four other satellites on board a Soyuz FG Fregat.
I arrived some days ahead of the launch in Baikonur. Unfortunately the satellite
had just been encapsulated into the fairing - so no last view. But we watched the integration
of the launch vehicle and the roll-out to the pad.
The 1790th Soyuz rocket provided for a spectacular on-time launch and climbed
into the blue skies of the Kazakh steppe. These were ideal conditions for photography.
My cameras were set up at 180m distance to the launch pad, guaranteeing for a perfect view
on the launch.
