Besides aerospace photography, also astrophotography is a challenging but fascinating field that requires a quite high technical effort to succeed. However, the sensitive sensor chips of modern digital cameras can do a very job if used for the purpose of astrophotography and enable even amateur astronomers to capture the faintest objects with remarkable quality.
Deep sky objects shown on this page are taken at more remote locations in the black forest, Switzerland, or Greece. I use mobile equipment, and my main instrument is a Skywatcher Esprit 120ED f7 refractor telescope with which most of the pictures have been taken. For tracking I currently use a Losmandy G-11 equatorial mount, guided with the Lacerta MGEN-2.
